Monthly winners of the EEF fund announced for MarchThe winners of the March drawing for the Algonac Community Schools Education Enrichment Fund were recently announced. First prize, a trip to Toronto, Ontario, Canada, goes to Nancy and George LaParl, of Algonac. Second prize, $125 in cash, goes to John Streit, of Harsens Island. Third prize, a dinner for four with a $100 value, goes to Angela Lozen, of East China Township. Each year, a maximum of 300 tickets are sold at $100 apiece, entitling the purchaser to take part in 12 monthly raffles throughout the year. First prize each month is a major vacation for two; second prize is $125 in cash, and third prize is a $100 gift certificate for dinner for four.

The Algonac Education Enrichment Fund is a Component Fund of the Community Foundation of St. Clair County, which is an independent non-profit organization. The purpose of the fund is to raise money to provide unique educational opportunities for students, including enhanced programs and enriched academic experiences that are generally not funded through the regular school budget. The Marine City Downriver Helping Hands organization is currently giving out Easter baskets with a full Easter meal, including a ham. Anyone in financial need can call to sign up to get their basket. The cut-off date for signing up is March 19. They will be given out on March 23 at Helping Hands, which is located at 310 S. Parker St. in Marine City.
